ABOUT ME
As a School of Information student at the University of Michigan, I enjoy the creative process and have a passion for UX/UI design. In my free time I love to create, perform, and listen to music. My other hobbies include tennis and photography.
BACKGROUND
For the past 3 years, I’ve been pursuing dual undergraduate degrees in both UX design and Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan, along with a minor in music. I have a background in programming and logical reasoning, as understood from both a mathematical and human cognition perspective. Because of this, I have a strong understanding of people and how they make decisions as well as an exceptional attention to detail. Currently I’m the Project Leader of a UI Design Community working to improve the user interface of an online collaborative learning platform called 1Cademy. My education and life experience has given me a genuine appreciation for the importance of designing with people in mind.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Design means a lot of different things to me. While I find it to be a fun and creative outlet, I also believe it comes with responsibility. Design can only be as positively influential as the people behind it. The technology we create is neither inherently good, nor inherently bad, it merely reflects who we are. Without mindfulness, this can have negative impacts. If we are careful and intentional, though, I believe it can reflect who we hope to be. I strongly believe it is the job of any designer to consider the ethical and and moral implications of their design on users. I believe all design should strive to achieve inclusivity and accessibility for all users, which means prioritizing minorities and marginalized groups from the beginning of the design process. I hope to find like-minded designers who approach their work with similar values and have a respect and appreciation for the power design can possess.
